पुलिस कानून में बदलाव के मुद्दे पर इस्राईल में जनता नेतन्याहू की सरकार के खिलाफ सड़कों पर उत्तरी हुई है, महिने भर से भी ज़यादा वक़्त से वहां पर विरोध-प्रदर्शन हो रहे हैं, बता दें कि नेतन्याहू पुलिस कानून में बदलाव कर नया कानून लाना चाहते हैं, जिसके तहत पुलिस को असीमित अधिकार मिल जायेंगे, जनता इस का विरोध कर रही है, आज रात प्रदर्शनकारियों ने नेतन्याहू के सरकार निवास को घेर रखा है, हज़ारों की तादाद में वहां लोग जमा हैं, पुलिस और सुरक्षा में लगे लोगों ने नेतन्याहू के परिवार को सरकार आवास से निकाल कर सेना के हेडक़्टर में पहुंचा दिया है, इससे पहले नेतन्याहू ने अपने रक्षामंत्री को हटा दिया था.

Dozens of doctors to go on strike on Monday

Dozens of doctors in Israeli hospitals announced their intention not to come to work on Monday “due to illness,” in a statement on Sunday evening after the dismissal of Defense Minister Gallant.

There are fears in the health system that if not enough doctors come to work, the hospitals will not be able to operate at full capacity, according to Walla News.

Israeli universities to stop studies because of judicial reform

Israel’s research universities will stop the studies starting from Monday, representatives of the universities decided in a special meeting late on Sunday evening after the firing of Defense Minister Gallant.

“We, the heads of Israel’s research universities, presidents, rectors and managements, will stop studies in all of Israel’s research universities starting tomorrow morning, against the background of the continuation of the legislative process that undermines the foundations of Israeli democracy and endangers its continued existence,” they said in a statement.

“We call on the Prime Minister and members of the coalition to stop the legislation and immediately enter into negotiations in order to reach a broadly agreed upon outline.”

Local authorities announce hunger strike, demand to stop legislation

Heads of local authorities from across the country’s political spectrum will begin a hunger strike in front of the Prime Minister’s office on Monday in order to protest against the government’s judicial reform, they announced on Sunday evening after the dismissal of Defense Minister Gallant.

“The heads of the authorities call to stop the legislative race, to hold negotiations and allow the country to face its enormous security challenges. We demand from the government, on the eve of Passover and the national holidays, to prevent harm to the security of the state and the integrity and unity of the people,” their statement read.

Israel protest 2023: Hebrew University to close one day of classes

The Hebrew University of Jerusalem announced Sunday that it won’t have one of its school days this week in order to protest the judicial reform.

University officials are set to discuss the protest later tonight at 9 p.m.

Israel’s consul general in New York quits after Gallant firing

Israel’s Consul General in New York, Asaf Zamir, announced his resignation late on Sunday evening.

“I am very concerned about the legal reform that the government is promoting, which undermines the democratic institutions in Israel and the rule of law in the country,” Zamir wrote in his resignation letter.
